New York Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma 1 (NY-ESO-1)

Target
NY-ESO-1
Molecular classification
Cancer/testis antigen, Protein
01

Overview

New York esophageal squamous cell carcinoma 1 (NY-ESO-1) is a well-characterized cancer/testis antigen (CTA) notable for its exceptional immunogenicity and restricted expression pattern. It is encoded by the CTAG1B gene and produces a protein consisting of 180 amino acids. It exhibits highly restricted normal tissue expression, being found primarily in adult testis, while being aberrantly re-expressed in various malignancies. This re-expression makes NY-ESO-1 an attractive target for tumor-specific immunotherapy. Positive expression of NY‑ESO‑1 in solid tumors has been associated with increased mortality.
