Overview

The New York esophageal squamous cell carcinoma 1 (NY-ESO-1) peptide–HLA complex is a highly specific cancer-testis antigen (CTA) target used in advanced immunotherapy [6]. NY-ESO-1 is expressed in a variety of solid and hematologic malignancies, such as synovial sarcoma, melanoma, and multiple myeloma, but is absent from normal adult tissues except for the testis and placenta [5, 10]. The target consists of an intracellularly processed peptide, typically the SLLMWITQC epitope, presented on the cell surface by the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA)-A*02:01 molecule [4, 11].
