NGG1 interacting factor 3 like 1 (NIF3L1)

Target
NIF3L1
Molecular classification
Other (protein of evolutionary conservation, sometimes annotated as a putative cofactor or corepressor), Possible transcriptional corepressor
01

Overview

NGG1 interacting factor 3 like 1 (NIF3L1) is a highly conserved human protein thought to function as a transcriptional corepressor, primarily through interaction with COPS2, which may contribute to the negative regulation of neuronal differentiation genes. It is widely expressed and has evidence for protein-protein interactions (including self-interaction and binding to specific co-regulators). Although originally mapped to a region associated with juvenile-onset amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, there is currently no proof that NIF3L1 is itself causative for this or any other human disease. No drugs target the protein, and it is not considered a classical drug target in current clinical or pharmaceutical practice.
