Nipah Virus Antigen (NiV Antigen)

Target
NiV Antigen
Molecular classification
Viral protein, Glycoprotein, Structural protein
01

Overview

Nipah virus antigens are viral proteins, most notably the surface glycoproteins G (attachment protein) and F (fusion protein), and the nucleocapsid protein N. These antigens are key targets for diagnostic assays, vaccine development, and therapeutic antibody design. The G glycoprotein mediates attachment to host cell receptors (ephrin-B2 and ephrin-B3), while the F glycoprotein facilitates membrane fusion. The N protein is an internal structural protein used in diagnostics due to its high abundance. These antigens elicit immune responses, particularly neutralizing antibodies against G and F, which are critical for protection against Nipah virus infection.
