Overview

Nipsnap homolog 3A (NIPSNAP3A) is a member of the NIPSNAP protein family, characterized by the presence of two highly conserved NIPSNAP domains per protein. Unlike NIPSNAP1 and NIPSNAP2, which are more highly studied and linked to functions such as mitochondrial metabolism and mitophagy, NIPSNAP3A—along with its paralog NIPSNAP4—is less well characterized. Limited experimental evidence suggests NIPSNAP3A may be involved in vesicular transport and protein-protein interactions, specifically with inhibitor of apoptosis proteins, indicating a possible role in apoptosis regulation[2][3]. There is currently no substantial evidence for NIPSNAP3A as a direct therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs or established disease biomarkers for this protein[1][3]. NIPSNAP3A is primarily classified as an intracellular protein with low tissue specificity in most datasets[4][6].
