Target intelligence / Profile preview
The nitric oxide (NO) signaling pathway is a fundamental cellular communication system in which NO acts as a gaseous signaling molecule. NO plays critical roles in regulating vascular tone, neurotransmission, immune responses, and other physiological processes.
Drugs targeting this pathway primarily modulate NO production, sGC activity, or cGMP degradation. Nitroglycerin and nitrates act as NO donors. PDE5 inhibitors prolong cGMP action by preventing its degradation.
