Target intelligence / Profile preview

Nitric oxide synthase inducible isoform (iNOS)

Target
iNOS
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Oxidoreductase
01

Overview

iNOS is a homodimeric enzyme that catalyzes the production of nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine. It is induced by inflammatory cytokines and microbial products and plays a key role in immune defense and inflammation. Overexpression of iNOS is implicated in various diseases, making it a therapeutic target for modulating inflammatory responses and oxidative stress.
