NK1 homeobox 1 (NKX1-1)

NK1 homeobox 1 (NKX1-1) is a member of the NKX family of homeodomain-containing transcription factors and functions as a critical regulator of organ development through transcriptional regulation[1][6][3]. It may also play a role in the maintenance of energy homeostasis by interacting with factors involved in these processes[3][6]. There is no evidence this gene is a therapeutic target in the sense of being modulated by approved drugs, nor is it classified as a receptor, enzyme, or similar protein targeted by small molecules or biologics. Its aliases include alternative names relating to its gene and protein family. Mice studies suggest a role in obesity and metabolic regulation, but clinical significance in human diseases is not established[5].
