NKAIN1 pseudogene 2 (NKAIN1P2) is a human pseudogene classified as non-protein coding. It is presumed to be related to the sodium/potassium transporting ATPase interacting family, but pseudogenes like NKAIN1P2 do not produce functional proteins. While some pseudogenes are transcribed and may have regulatory roles at the RNA level, there is currently no evidence that NKAIN1P2 has biological functionality or disease relevance. In therapeutic research and drug discovery, NKAIN1P2 is not considered a target. Pseudogenes, by definition, are noncoding genetic elements derived from functional gene ancestors. Most are not transcribed or translated, though exceptions exist where they exhibit regulatory RNA activity.
