Overview

The NKR-P1 receptor is a C-type lectin-like cell surface receptor expressed on natural killer (NK) cells and some T cell subsets. It is involved in the recognition of carbohydrate ligands on target cells, triggers NK cell cytotoxicity, and induces the secretion of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), which is vital for immune regulation and host defense against infection and cancer. Cross-linking of NKR-P1 on NK cells directly stimulates IFN-γ production through downstream signaling involving STAT4, NF-κB, and related pathways. Dysregulation or excessive activation of this pathway may contribute to immune-mediated pathologies.
