Overview

NLRC5 (NLR family CARD domain-containing protein 5), commonly abbreviated NLRC5, is an intracellular pattern recognition receptor and transcriptional regulator in the NOD-like receptor (NLR) family with a caspase recruitment domain (CARD), NACHT domain, and a long leucine-rich repeat (LRR) region[1][3][7]. NLRC5 regulates innate and adaptive immune responses chiefly by promoting major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC I) expression and modulating inflammasome formation, NF-kappa-B, and interferon signaling pathways[1][2][5][7]. Dysregulation of NLRC5 expression is implicated in various disease states, including cancer immune evasion, infection response, inflammation, and autoimmune disorders; thus, NLRC5 is both a research and potential therapeutic target in immunology and oncology[2][5][8].
