Overview

NME2 pseudogene 2 (NME2P2) is a genetic element classified as a pseudogene, related by sequence similarity to the NME2 (NME/NM23 nucleoside diphosphate kinase 2) gene which encodes a functional enzyme involved in nucleotide metabolism, DNA-binding, and metastasis suppression. However, unlike NME2, NME2P2 is not known to encode a protein or have a direct biological or disease-related role. There is currently no evidence that NME2P2 functions as a druggable target, nor is it recognized in literature or major databases as having regulatory or biomarker utility. Its main importance is in genomic and evolutionary contexts. Note: - If your intent was to refer to the *functional* gene **NME2** (NM23B, nucleoside diphosphate kinase B), it would be a genuine enzyme with important biological and disease roles[1][2][3][4]. - **NME2P2** is distinct from **NME2**, being a non-functional, non-targetable pseudogene. - There is no evidence supporting a role for NME2P2 in drug response, disease, or molecular targeting.
