Target intelligence / Profile preview
Gastric emptying is a physiological process controlled by integrated neural circuits (including both inhibitory and excitatory vagal pathways), gastrointestinal hormones such as cholecystokinin (CCK), peptide mediators (VIP, nitric oxide), and smooth muscle contractility, rather than by a single, well-characterized molecular target or receptor[1][3][5]. Many studies continue to investigate the roles of regulatory peptide hormones and neural networks, but there is not yet a clearly defined, singular molecular target for direct pharmacological modulation of gastric emptying.
