Target intelligence / Profile preview
The NOC2 like nucleolar associated transcriptional repressor pseudogene 2 (NOC2LP2) is a processed pseudogene (a retrocopy) of the parental gene NOC2L, located at chromosome 21:386526-389342[6]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but are typically non-functional due to mutations or the absence of regulatory elements. Retrocopies like NOC2LP2 are produced via reverse transcription of an mRNA transcript and integration into the genome; they usually do not express a functional protein. While some pseudogenes contribute regulatory noncoding RNAs that can influence gene expression, no specific molecular function, biological process, or disease association is currently documented for NOC2LP2 in major gene annotation databases[6][3][7]. Notes: - NOC2LP2 is not established as a drug target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor. - There is no evidence of a protein product or any interaction with drugs. - There are no reported biomarkers or disease-association roles for this pseudogene. - The closest characterized homolog is NOC2L, a nucleolar protein potentially involved in transcription regulation; NOC2LP2 is simply a non-functional retrocopy[6]. - There may be confusion with other pseudogenes or regulatory RNAs in the literature, but no direct research on NOC2LP2 exists. Summary: NOC2LP2 is a processed pseudogene (retrocopy) with no known function, target activity, or disease association, and should not be considered a therapeutic target[6][3][7].
