Non-receptor tyrosine kinases (nRTKs) are cytosolic enzymes that catalyze the transfer of a phosphate group from ATP to tyrosine residues on substrate proteins. Unlike receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), nRTKs do not possess extracellular ligand-binding or transmembrane domains. They function within the cytoplasm or are tethered to cellular membranes. They regulate cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, migration, apoptosis, and immune responses. Dysregulation is implicated in diseases like cancer and autoimmunity.
