The endometrium is the highly regenerative inner mucosal lining of the uterus, composed of surface epithelium, glands, stroma, and a rich vascular network (StatPearls, 2023). It undergoes dynamic structural and functional changes throughout the menstrual cycle in response to ovarian steroids, specifically estrogen and progesterone, to prepare for embryo implantation (NIH, 2024).
