Non-voltage-operated calcium channels are a diverse group of membrane proteins that mediate calcium influx into cells independently of changes in membrane potential. These channels are activated by mechanisms such as ligand binding or depletion of intracellular calcium stores, playing critical roles in signal transduction, muscle contraction, immune cell activation, and gene expression. Examples include IP3 receptors, ryanodine receptors, store-operated CRAC channels, and other non-selective cation channels permeable to calcium.
