Target intelligence / Profile preview
Nonstructural protein 5B (NS5B) is an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) essential for the replication of the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It catalyzes the synthesis of new viral RNA strands using the existing viral genome as a template. NS5B is a key target for direct-acting antiviral (DAA) drugs.
Inhibition of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase activity, thereby blocking viral replication.
