Target intelligence / Profile preview

Norovirus GI.1 major capsid protein VP1

Molecular classification
Viral structural protein, Capsid protein
01

Overview

The Norovirus GI.1 major capsid protein VP1 is the principal structural protein forming the outer shell of the norovirus particle. It self-assembles into virus-like particles (VLPs) and mediates initial attachment to host cells by binding histo-blood group antigens (HBGAs). It is a target for vaccine and diagnostic development.
