Overview

Notch 2 pseudogene 1 (NOTCH2P1) is a human pseudogene related to the NOTCH2 gene, found in the human genome but not known to encode a functional protein[7][9]. Unlike protein-coding members of the Notch receptor family, NOTCH2P1 does not participate in canonical Notch signaling or other known biological processes. Pseudogenes like NOTCH2P1 are DNA segments resembling known genes but are generally considered non-functional due to the accumulation of mutations that prevent protein expression. There is currently no evidence that NOTCH2P1 acts as a therapeutic target, is involved in disease, or serves as a biomarker[7][9]. If additional information on potential regulatory or non-coding RNA roles is discovered in future research, these roles could be revisited; current reputable sources uniformly classify NOTCH2P1 as a non-functional pseudogene[7][9].
