Overview
Notch homolog protein 1 intracellular domain (NICD1) is the active, cleaved intracellular fragment of the Notch 1 receptor. It is released from the membrane-bound full-length Notch 1 protein following ligand-induced proteolytic cleavage and serves as a key nuclear effector in canonical Notch signaling. NICD translocates to the nucleus, binds to CSL proteins, and activates transcription of target genes involved in cell fate, proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Dysregulation is implicated in various diseases, including cancer.
