Novel keratin-associated protein family pseudogene

The novel keratin-associated protein family pseudogene (ENSG00000218125) is a non-functional DNA sequence homologous to members of the keratin-associated protein gene family. Pseudogenes such as this retain sequence similarity to functional keratin-associated protein genes (KRTAPs) but harbor disabling mutations that prevent expression of an active protein product.
