Target intelligence / Profile preview
This target is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) known as a cis-natural antisense transcript, transcribed from the opposite DNA strand overlapping the TANC2 gene. It does not encode a protein and instead modulates the function of the TANC2 gene, likely through epigenetic changes (modifying chromatin structure) and/or by regulating transcript stability of TANC2. While the sense gene TANC2 is a scaffolding protein involved in synaptic development and has disease associations in neurodevelopmental disorders, the specific functional role of this antisense transcript remains unclear, apart from general roles in gene regulation associated with antisense lncRNAs[1][3][6].
