Target intelligence / Profile preview
NPEPPS pseudogene 1 (NPEPPSP1) is a predicted pseudogene associated with the puromycin-sensitive aminopeptidase (NPEPPS) gene family. Pseudogenes typically represent nonfunctional sequences similar to protein-coding genes but usually lack the ability to encode a functional protein product due to mutations or the absence of regulatory elements. NPEPPSP1 is not believed to carry out a biological function and is not implicated in disease mechanisms, drug targeting, or as a biomarker. The functional enzyme, puromycin-sensitive aminopeptidase, is encoded by the separate, active NPEPPS gene[3][5][6].
