NPHP3-ACAD11 readthrough (NPHP3-ACAD11)

Target
NPHP3-ACAD11
Molecular classification
Other (long noncoding RNA, readthrough transcript)
01

Overview

NPHP3-ACAD11 readthrough is a noncoding RNA transcript produced by read-through transcription between the neighboring NPHP3 and ACAD11 genes on chromosome 3. It is classified as a candidate for nonsense-mediated mRNA decay and is therefore unlikely to encode a functional protein product[2][8]. As such, it does not function as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any other typical drug target class. No established therapeutic, biomarker, or diagnostic relevance is associated with this readthrough transcript[2][8][3]. The parent genes (NPHP3 and ACAD11) do have important biological and disease associations, but these do not apply directly to the NPHP3-ACAD11 readthrough transcript. The “readthrough” product should not be conflated with the individual protein products (nephrocystin-3 and ACAD11), which are distinct and do have characterized biological functions and disease relevance[1][7][10][9]. For therapeutically relevant information, refer to the individual genes NPHP3 or ACAD11, not the readthrough transcript.

Biological functions

No direct biological function has been established for the readthrough transcript itself. It is a candidate for nonsense-mediated mRNA decay and unlikely to be translated into a protein.
03

Disease associations

No direct disease roles attributed to the readthrough transcript itself.Diseases associated with the parent genes include Nephronophthisis 3 and Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy 44 (via NPHP3), but these are not linked specifically to NPHP3-ACAD11 readthrough.
