Overview

NQO2 antisense RNA 1 (NQO2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand overlapping the NQO2 (NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase 2) gene locus. Antisense RNAs, including NQO2-AS1, are important regulators of gene expression through multiple mechanisms, both in *cis* (affecting the overlapping or nearby gene on the same DNA molecule) and *trans* (affecting distant loci). They can modulate transcription by altering chromatin states, promoter usage, or by directly binding to sense transcripts and influencing RNA processing or stability[2]. The specific biological function, disease involvement, or pharmacological targeting of NQO2-AS1 has not been reported; therefore, it is not considered a classical drug target, receptor, or enzyme at this time[2].
