Overview

NRIP3 divergent transcript (NRIP3-DT) is a primate-specific long non-coding RNA transcribed in a divergent orientation from the promoter region of the NRIP3 gene[1][5]. Divergent lncRNAs, such as NRIP3-DT, are typically associated with the regulation of nearby protein-coding genes, playing roles in chromatin modification, transcriptional control, and developmental gene regulation[2][3]. NRIP3-DT may contribute to neuronal identity and has been implicated in neurodegenerative disease contexts but does not encode a protein and is not considered a conventional therapeutic target[1][2]. Its molecular classification is as a non-coding RNA, and while its precise biological functions are still under investigation, similar transcripts are known for regulatory impact during development and cell differentiation, especially in neurons[2]. There is no evidence for direct drug interaction or for use as a biomarker.
