Overview

NSMCE1 divergent transcript (NSMCE1-DT), also known as CTD-3203P2.2, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that does not code for protein. Recent studies have identified NSMCE1-DT as a potential prognostic biomarker in several cancers, most notably colorectal cancer, where high expression is associated with poorer patient outcomes[3][4][6]. NSMCE1-DT is functionally classified as a regulatory RNA molecule, possibly influencing epigenetic regulation, cell cycle, and immune response indirectly through its effects on the tumor microenvironment[3][6]. Its expression correlates with immune cell infiltration and immune checkpoint markers such as PD-L1 in some models[6], suggesting a role in modulating tumor immunity. At present, there are no reports of NSMCE1-DT being a therapeutic drug target, nor are there any drugs known to act directly on this lncRNA. Its mechanisms in disease processes and potential for clinical applications remain under investigation[3][4][6].
