NT5C3A pseudogene 1 (NT5C3AP1, also known as UMPH1P) is a genomic DNA segment that closely resembles the protein-coding gene 5'-nucleotidase, cytosolic IIIA (NT5C3A), but contains mutations or disruptions that prevent it from coding for a functional enzyme. Pseudogenes like NT5C3AP1 are generally considered nonfunctional remnants of ancestral genes and do not encode proteins or act as drug targets.
