Overview

NTM antisense RNA 1 (NTM-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 11. It is classified as an lncRNA, meaning it is not translated into a protein but may play a regulatory role in gene expression[1]. Antisense RNAs like NTM-AS1 are increasingly recognized for their potential to regulate nearby or overlapping genes by interaction with chromatin, modulation of transcription, or alteration of mRNA stability, although the specific functions of NTM-AS1 remain uncharacterized in the literature[4]. The only disease association currently attributed to NTM-AS1 is with polycystic kidney disease 2[1]; however, there is no evidence that this RNA is druggable or targeted therapeutically. No drugs, biomarkers, or therapeutic interventions involving NTM-AS1 are currently recognized, and its roles in cellular processes or pathology require further study[1][4].
