Overview

Nuclear factor erythroid 2–related factor 2 (NRF2) is a master transcription factor that plays a central role in cellular defense against oxidative and electrophilic stress. It regulates the expression of antioxidant proteins and cytoprotective enzymes by binding to antioxidant response elements (AREs) in the promoter regions of target genes.
