Target intelligence / Profile preview
NEMO (NF-κB Essential Modulator), also known as IKKγ, is a regulatory subunit of the IKK complex, crucial for activating the NF-κB transcription factor. It acts as a scaffolding protein, recruiting and organizing kinases to facilitate phosphorylation events leading to NF-κB activation, thereby controlling genes involved in inflammation, immunity, cell survival, and other processes. Mutations in the IKBKG gene, encoding NEMO, cause immunodeficiency syndromes and can contribute to inflammatory disorders or cancer.
