Nuclear Factor Kappa B Subunit 2 (NFKB2)

Target
NFKB2
Molecular classification
Transcription factor
01

Overview

Nuclear factor kappa B subunit 2 (NFKB2) is a key component of the NF-κB transcription factor complex, regulating genes involved in inflammation, immune function, and cell survival. The protein, processed from the p100 precursor to p52, functions as a transcriptional activator or repressor depending on its dimerization partner. Mutations in NFKB2 are associated with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) and have been implicated in lymphoma pathogenesis. It regulates gene expression by translocation to the nucleus upon activation, but is normally sequestered in the cytoplasm.
