Target intelligence / Profile preview

Nuclear Factor Kappa B Subunit RelA (NF-κB p65)

Target
NF-κB p65
Molecular classification
Transcription factor
01

Overview

NF-κB p65, also known as RelA, is a key subunit of the NF-κB family of transcription factors. It plays a central role in regulating immune response, inflammation, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and various other cellular processes. Under resting conditions, it is sequestered in the cytoplasm by IκB inhibitors. Upon stimulation, IκBs are phosphorylated and degraded, allowing p65-containing dimers to translocate into the nucleus and regulate target gene expression. Aberrant activation contributes to various diseases.
