01

Overview

The nuclear factor NF-kappa-B p65 subunit (RelA) is a key component of the NF-κB transcription factor complex. It plays a central role in regulating immune response, inflammation, cell growth, apoptosis, and tumorigenesis. RelA forms heterodimers most commonly with NFKB1/p50; this heterodimer is the most abundant form of active NF-kappa-B in cells. Upon stimulation, IκBs are degraded, and the p50/RelA dimer translocates to the nucleus to activate target gene expression. Dysregulation or constitutive activation of RELA/NF-kappa-B signaling has been implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases, autoimmune disorders, and cancer development/progression.
