The nuclear pore complex interacting protein pseudogene (ENSG00000235705) is a DNA sequence on human chromosome 10 resembling functional NPIP family genes but lacking the ability to produce a functional protein[3][7]. Pseudogenes typically arise from duplication or retrotransposition events followed by mutation, rendering them nonfunctional[4][2]. Although rare pseudogenes may exhibit regulatory effects at the RNA level, NPIP pseudogenes (including ENSG00000235705) are generally classified as nonfunctional genetic elements and should not be considered as drug targets or key molecules in cellular signaling[2][6][4].
