Nuclear pore complex protein Nup88 is a key nucleoporin component of the cytoplasmic filaments of the nuclear pore complex (NPC), mediating the selective transport of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm. It forms a subcomplex with NUP214 and is crucial for CRM1-mediated nuclear export. Nup88 interacts with NUP98, RAE1, and lamin A, is involved in mitotic spindle assembly, chromosome segregation, and regulation of the anaphase-promoting complex. Overexpression of Nup88 is found in a wide array of human cancers, contributing to aneuploidy and chromosomal instability. Dysfunctional Nup88 contributes to laminopathies and cancer progression
