Nuclear receptor coactivator 4 pseudogene 1 (**NCOA4P1**) is a human pseudogene related to the gene coding for nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4)[2]. Unlike the functional NCOA4 gene—which encodes a protein with well-documented roles as a nuclear receptor coactivator in androgen, vitamin D, thyroid hormone, and other signaling pathways[1][4]—NCOA4P1 does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes like NCOA4P1 are often genomic relics derived from duplicated or disabled genes, and while they typically do not have coding or therapeutic function, some pseudogenes in general can play regulatory roles via non-coding RNAs or by acting as microRNA decoys[5]. However, there is currently no evidence in the biomedical literature or curated databases indicating that NCOA4P1 serves as a therapeutic target, is involved in drug interactions, or functions as a biomarker or a direct regulator in disease processes.
