Overview

Nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group F member 3, also known as RORγ (RORC or RORγt), is a transcription factor belonging to the nuclear receptor family. It is highly expressed in immune cells, particularly Th17 cells, and plays a crucial role in their differentiation. RORγ is also found in the thymus, where it regulates thymocyte development and maturation. Furthermore, it regulates circadian rhythms and is involved in metabolic functions in tissues like the liver. Due to its role in Th17 cell differentiation, dysregulation of RORγ is implicated in autoimmune diseases and inflammation, and it may also play a role in cancer progression.
