Overview

Nuclear receptor subfamily 2 group C member 2 (NR2C2), also known as testicular receptor 4 (TR4), is a member of the nuclear hormone receptor family, functioning as a ligand-activated transcription factor and acting as either a repressor or activator of transcription. NR2C2 regulates diverse biological processes such as development, cellular differentiation, homeostasis, and spermatogenesis, and can modulate gene expression of various nuclear receptor signaling pathways. It has protective roles against oxidative stress and radiation-induced damage. The gene is implicated in disease processes including aging, cancer, and neurodevelopmental abnormalities.
