Nuclear transport factor 2 pseudogene 4 (NUTF2P4) is a noncoding genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene; it shares sequence homology with the functional NUTF2 gene but does not encode a protein product. Pseudogenes such as NUTF2P4 are typically not expressed as functional proteins and are not considered therapeutic or diagnostic targets. The canonical NUTF2 gene encodes for Nuclear transport factor 2 (NTF2), a well-characterized protein responsible for facilitating nuclear import via interaction with the Ran GTPase and the nuclear pore complex, but NUTF2P4 does not participate in these biological processes or known disease mechanisms.
