Nucleolar protein 8 (NOL8) is a nucleolar-localized protein encoded by the *NOL8* gene in humans. It possesses an N-terminal RNA recognition motif (RRM) and participates in nucleic acid and protein binding. NOL8 is involved in cell growth, acting through interactions with Ras-related GTP-binding proteins, and plays a critical role in the survival of diffuse-type gastric cancer cells. It also serves as a nucleolar anchoring protein for DDX47, and may be implicated in post-transcriptional gene regulation and ribosome biogenesis, particularly relevant to cancer cell biology. While involved in important cellular functions and cancer biology, NOL8 is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and there are currently no known drugs that interact with it.
