The nucleolin pseudogene (ENSG00000254755) is a segment of DNA similar to the functional nucleolin gene (NCL), but does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes are generally considered nonfunctional remnants from ancestral genes, and most have no biological activity or implication as drug targets.
