Nucleophosmin 1 pseudogene 1 (NPM1P1) is a non-functional pseudogene related to the NPM1 gene, which encodes nucleophosmin, a nucleolar phosphoprotein involved in various cellular processes, including ribosome biogenesis and regulation of the cell cycle. As a pseudogene, NPM1P1 does not code for an active protein product and is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, or enzyme. Its sequence is similar to the functional NPM1 gene, but it generally lacks the capacity for protein translation due to mutations, truncations, or regulatory loss.
