Overview

Nucleophosmin 1 pseudogene 11 (NPM1P11) is a processed pseudogene, not coding for a functional protein. It is related by sequence to the functional NPM1 gene, which encodes nucleophosmin, an abundant nucleolar phosphoprotein involved in ribosome biogenesis, chromatin remodeling, genome stability, and regulation of apoptosis[1][4][7]. However, NPM1P11 itself lacks protein-coding capacity and is not considered a druggable or therapeutic target. There is no evidence that NPM1P11 is involved in signaling, disease mechanisms, or serves as a relevant biomarker; all known functional roles and disease associations pertain to the genuine, protein-coding NPM1 gene, not its pseudogenes. NPM1P11 is not a therapeutic target. The actual therapeutic and biological importance belongs to NPM1, not to any of its pseudogenes. Pseudogenes such as NPM1P11 generally do not encode functional proteins and therefore have no direct roles in biological pathways or human disease relevant for targeting[4]. If the intention was to refer to NPM1 (Nucleophosmin 1), please clarify, as there is extensive information available about the structure, biological roles, and disease relevance of NPM1[1][4][5][7]. For NPM1, roles in cancer, DNA repair, and cell proliferation are well-established, and it is a validated biomarker and therapeutic target in leukemia and other cancers. However, this does not apply to NPM1P11. In summary: NPM1P11 is a non-functional pseudogene and not considered a molecular target in any therapeutic or diagnostic context. All functional information pertains to NPM1, not NPM1P11.
