Nucleophosmin 1 pseudogene 25 (NPM1P25) is a processed pseudogene related to the functional NPM1 gene. It does not encode a functional nucleophosmin protein due to disabling mutations such as premature stop codons or frameshifts. While some pseudogenes may be transcribed and function as competing endogenous RNAs or regulate their parental gene at the RNA level, there is no direct evidence that NPM1P25 has a demonstrated regulatory or functional role. NPM1P25 is not considered a pharmacological target, receptor, or enzyme, and there are no reported interacting drugs, mechanisms of action, biomarker associations, or direct disease links. It should not be confused with the functional NPM1 gene/protein, which is relevant in cancer.
