Overview

Nucleophosmin 1 pseudogene 6 (NPM1P6) is a non-coding, intronless pseudogene in humans[1][3]. It shares sequence similarity with the NPM1 gene, which encodes the nucleolar protein nucleophosmin (B23, numatrin), but NPM1P6 itself does not produce a functional protein and has no demonstrated biological activity or clinical relevance. Unlike the functional NPM1 gene, which is involved in vital processes such as ribosome assembly, genomic stability, and is implicated in cancer biology, NPM1P6 is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transcription factor, or therapeutic target and is not associated with disease mechanisms or drug activity[7][1][3].
