Overview

Nucleoporin 35 (NUP35) is a member of the nucleoporin family, localized to the nuclear rim as a core structural component of the nuclear pore complex (NPC), which regulates molecular trafficking between the nucleus and cytoplasm in eukaryotic cells[1][3][4][5][6]. NUP35 has two membrane binding regions and interacts with other nucleoporins and nuclear transport factors as part of NPC architecture[5][6]. In addition to its essential nuclear transport roles, NUP35 is dynamically involved in cell cycle progression and has specialized functions in spindle assembly and chromosome alignment during oocyte meiosis, likely in a regulated (phosphorylated) form[2]. There is no evidence that NUP35 is a direct therapeutic target or that drugs specifically modulate its activity, and it is not associated with established clinical biomarkers or safety concerns.
