Target intelligence / Profile preview
Nucleoporin-62 C-terminal-like protein (NUP62CL) is a protein-coding gene product that belongs to the nucleoporin family, specifically the NSP1/NUP62 subgroup. It contains domains found in glycoproteins of nuclear pore complexes, which are large structures spanning the nuclear envelope and facilitating regulated transport of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm. NUP62CL is a paralog of nucleoporin 62 (NUP62), and is a structural constituent of the nuclear pore complex without direct enzymatic or receptor function. Recent research has identified NUP62CL as significantly upregulated in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), associated with advanced tumor stage, poor patient prognosis, and high expression of immune checkpoint molecules, suggesting a potential role as a prognostic and immunological biomarker, although it is not currently a therapeutic target. NUP62CL interacts with other nucleoporins such as NUP54, NUP88, NUP93, and components of the nuclear pore complex required for trafficking across the nuclear membrane. Alternative splicing yields multiple transcript variants of the protein. No known drugs are reported to interact with NUP62CL, and its molecular and clinical characterization as a therapeutic target remains unestablished.
Null (no drugs currently known to target NUP62CL)
