Overview

Nucleosome assembly protein 1 like 1 pseudogene 3 (NAP1L1P3) is a nonfunctional segment of DNA classified as a pseudogene, bearing sequence similarity to the functional NAP1L1 gene but lacking coding or regulatory capacity for a functional protein[4][7]. Pseudogenes like NAP1L1P3 are usually not transcribed or translated into active proteins and do not contribute directly to cell biology or disease except in rare cases where pseudogenes may have regulatory roles as noncoding RNAs, which is not documented for NAP1L1P3 specifically[4][2][7]. Its functional counterpart, NAP1L1, is involved in chromatin assembly, DNA replication, and cell proliferation, but these roles are not shared by the pseudogene variant[1][7]. In summary, NAP1L1P3 should not be considered a therapeutic target, and there is no evidence of biological or disease relevance, interacting drugs, mechanism of action, biomarkers, or safety concerns. All functional information relates instead to its parent gene, NAP1L1, not to NAP1L1P3.
